Behind the Product

These earrings reinterpret classic lacquer and mother of pearl ornamentation in a contemporary form. The floral motif reflects soft blues, greens, and purples as the light shifts, while the pearl and crystal tassels move gently to create a refined sense of elegance. This inlay technique belongs to the long lineage of Chinese lacquer and shell craftsmanship, recognized as part of China’s intangible cultural heritage.

Craft Process

The floral panel is created using traditional mother of pearl inlay techniques rooted in Chinese lacquer craft, an art recognized as part of China’s intangible cultural heritage. Selected abalone shells are cut into thin sheets, shaped into petal forms, and set into the lacquer surface with careful handwork. After multiple rounds of filling and polishing, the shell becomes flush with the glossy finish. Tassels are assembled individually with freshwater pearls and faceted crystals to ensure balanced movement and soft light reflection.

Slight variations in shell pattern, lacquer tone, and tassel alignment naturally occur due to the handcrafted nature of inlay work. These details make each pair one of a kind and reflect the time and precision of the process.

2. Store separately to prevent scratches on the shell surface.
3. Wipe gently with a soft dry cloth after wear, and keep away from prolonged direct sunlight.

This piece has no ready stock and requires a production window shown on this page. We dispatch promptly after completion. International delivery typically arrives about one to two weeks after shipment; timing depends on destination, carrier, and customs. Delivery dates are estimates only.

Returns & Exchanges
Change-of-mind returns are not accepted for handmade items. If the item arrives damaged, incorrect, or materially not as described, contact info@folkmake.com within 7 days of delivery with your order number and a complete, continuous unboxing video (from sealed parcel to inspection). Keep all packaging and accessories. We will review and, if approved, arrange repair or replacement; if a like-for-like replacement is not feasible, we will refund to your original payment method. We will provide return instructions and the correct return address by email.
