Choose the direction that feels closest to the universe you want.
The photos above show past pieces as visual references, not exact replicas. Your orb will follow the style direction you choose, while its final inner world forms naturally in the flame. That is why every CosmoWhirl Orb feels personal, but never duplicated.
If you already know which look you prefer, choose that direction directly. If you would rather not compare every detail, Artist’s Choice is the easiest place to begin — we will bring forward the strongest overall look for your piece.
The five examples above are previously sold Supernova Remnant pieces. This is the rarest visual outcome in the CosmoWhirl series, known for its unusually dramatic depth, internal contrast, and almost explosive center. Every orb style requires complex handwork, but Supernova Remnant takes the most time, the most attempts, and usually around 20–30 days to complete.
Even with experience, this result cannot be forced or repeated on demand. Our master artist, Glen, can guide the heat, layering, and structure, but the final remnant-like effect only appears after many attempts, many failures, and a certain amount of chance inside the flame. Its yield is extremely low, and only the pieces that meet our standard for depth, balance, and visual impact are released.
Why it’s worth keeping
Small Piece, Strong Presence
Changes the feel of a space the moment it enters, while staying small enough to wear, hold, or keep nearby.
Giftable Without Feeling Generic
Feels personal, considered, and memorable — especially for someone who loves space, light, or unusual handmade pieces.
Easy to Keep Close
Made to be worn, placed, or picked up again and again — not just to look at, but to keep looking into.
No Two Ever Settle Alike
Your orb follows a visual direction, but its final inner world forms only once in the flame.
What it feels like in real life
Turn it in your palm, and the light inside gathers, fades, and catches again—layers of color rising and falling like a small galaxy in motion. It has a way of quieting the mind, pulling you into the present, and opening up the imagination. That is when it stops being a simple ornament and becomes something truly worth treasuring.
This piece is made to order
The photos and videos on this page show past CosmoWhirl Orbs. Your piece will be made after your order, following your selected type and visual direction, while its final inner world forms naturally in the flame. Before any orb leaves our studio, we check for clarity, depth, inner light, and overall balance. Natural variation is part of the work, but every finished orb still has to meet our standard before it ships.
In Natural Light and Warm Indoor Light
This video shows the same orb under everyday light: first outdoors in natural light with no added lighting, then under a single strong warm indoor light. Our standard for a finished piece is this: it should look stunning in stronger light, while still showing clear structure and distinct color layering in softer natural light. Only then do we consider it ready to send.
Flowing Beauty, Shaped in the Flame
Inside the flame, the orb’s inner textures, light bands, starlike points, and sense of movement are shaped by hand. Even before the piece is finished, you can already see the universe beginning to appear — color gathering, depth opening, and tiny points of light settling into place. After this stage, the orb goes through final annealing. This helps the inner details become clearer and more dimensional, while also strengthening the glass structure before final inspection.
Why It Takes Time
Not every beautiful orb is meant to be shipped. The blue CosmoWhirl Orb shown in the video above is still beautiful, but it fell short of our standard for depth, light-band density, starlike detail, and overall balance in a finished CosmoWhirl piece. It was kept as a studio record, not sent to a customer. Before the final one is ready, there are often dozens of failed attempts. What you receive is not the first orb that survives the flame, but the one that met our standard — the piece we believe is ready to become yours.

FAQ
Can you make a fully custom orb or place ashes inside it?
Can you make a fully custom orb or place ashes inside it?
We are sorry, but we are not able to offer fully custom orbs, design changes, material changes, or include customer-provided materials such as ashes inside the orb.
Our core design and material formula has been carefully tested and refined for visual depth, durability, and stability. Adding outside materials could change that balance, so we do not accept customer-provided materials inside the orb.
The style options on this page are visual directions, not exact custom instructions. They guide the overall direction of the piece, but they do not produce an exact copy of the sample photos. Because every orb is made entirely by hand, factors like heat, timing, hand control, and material response naturally shape the final inner world, so no two orbs will ever be exactly the same — even within the same style direction.
That said, we are happy to try simple pairing requests when possible. For example, we may be able to make two orbs in the same style direction with slightly different color balance, so they feel like a matching pair. Exact matching is not guaranteed.
Will my orb be the exact one shown in the photos or videos?
Will my orb be the exact one shown in the photos or videos?
No. Each CosmoWhirl Orb is made to order. The photos and videos show past pieces as references, so your orb will follow your selected type and visual direction, but its final inner world will form naturally in the flame. It will be made to the same standard, not copied exactly.
What is the shape difference between the display orb and the necklace or bracelet version?
What is the shape difference between the display orb and the necklace or bracelet version?
The display orb is a true sphere. The necklace and bracelet versions are nearly spherical, with a subtly flattened back so the front of the orb sits more naturally when worn.
Why does the back of the orb have a small near-black area? Is that a flaw?
Why does the back of the orb have a small near-black area? Is that a flaw?
No. It is an intentional part of the design, not a flaw. The orb is crafted on a base of imported Czech translucent blue-violet borosilicate glass, which creates that small near-black area and helps bring out stronger contrast, clearer light bands, and greater depth.
What kind of lighting shows the orb most clearly?
What kind of lighting shows the orb most clearly?
Strong direct light reveals the inner swirl, light bands, and depth most clearly, but a finished CosmoWhirl Orb should still show clear structure and color layering in softer natural light. We check each piece under different lighting conditions before shipping.

Every CosmoWhirl Orb is made by hand by our artisan, with close attention to material, flame work, depth, clarity, and form.
When you choose a type or visual direction, it becomes part of the making itself — guiding the overall feeling of your piece without turning it into an exact copy of any sample photo. Its final inner world still forms naturally in the flame, so the finished orb feels personal, intentional, and truly yours.
We care about real craftsmanship, distinct character, and lasting worth — never anonymous mass production. Nothing leaves FolkMake until it feels right in hand and meets our standards for clarity, depth, inner light, and overall balance.
