This handmade bamboo brooch is created in small batches by Craft Artist Xiao Kuan in China. Delicately carved bamboo arcs and a single pearl highlight capture the motion of a rising wave, turning resilience, balance, and quiet strength into a piece of wearable art.

Waveborne captures the strength and lightness of waves through finely carved bamboo and a single pearl accent. The rising curve suggests water lifting toward light, while the quiet sheen of pearl hints at foam at the crest. This piece carries a gentle sense of perseverance soft in appearance, firm in structure - made to rest close to the heart.

Craft Process

Each brooch begins as a slender bamboo strip, steamed, bent, and carved into a flowing arc. The result is a light yet resilient form that holds its curve, balancing organic tension and simplicity.

Xiao Kuan.

A bamboo artist who, despite a hand disability, has devoted his life to mastering intricate fine-scale bamboo weaving. His work transforms a traditionally large-format folk craft into delicate sculptural pieces that embody perseverance, sensitivity, and contemporary design.

Due to the handmade shaping of bamboo, each brooch may show slight variations in curvature and thickness. These nuances ensure that every Waveborne brooch is one of a kind.

2. Do not press, crush, or bend; store in a box to preserve its shape.
3. Wipe gently with a soft dry cloth and avoid contact with perfume, alcohol, or other chemicals.

Shipping
This piece has no ready stock and requires a production window shown on this page. We dispatch promptly after completion. International delivery typically arrives about one to two weeks after shipment; timing depends on destination, carrier, and customs. Delivery dates are estimates only.

Returns & Exchanges
Change-of-mind returns are not accepted for handmade items. If the item arrives damaged, incorrect, or materially not as described, contact info@folkmake.com within 7 days of delivery with your order number and a complete, continuous unboxing video (from sealed parcel to inspection). Keep all packaging and accessories. We will review and, if approved, arrange repair or replacement; if a like-for-like replacement is not feasible, we will refund to your original payment method. We will provide return instructions and the correct return address by email.
