Description

A handmade ceramic-and-pearl earring set by ceramic artist Wei Ziwen—fish-shaped porcelain forms combined with delicate metallic-thread weaving, created as wearable reflection and a meaningful gift for mindful hearts.

Behind the Product

Beneath its elegant surface lies a quiet story. Inspired by images of marine life entangled in plastic waste, this piece doesn’t shout— it asks you to look again, to feel empathy, and to hold awareness with tenderness.

For Healing & Comfort, it offers a gentle way to process heaviness: turning reflection into something beautiful you can wear. A small reminder that care—toward the world and toward yourself—can coexist.

Materials & Size

Ceramic, metallic thread, natural freshwater pearls, 925 silver hooks or clips.

Craft Process & Handmade Character

Craft Process: Each fish-shaped ceramic body is kiln-fired with pre-set holes for weaving. Metallic thread is then woven by hand through the ceramic structure, and pearls are assembled to balance texture and movement.

Because the process requires repeated trials to reach the right tension and proportion, every finished pair carries the maker’s persistence.

Handmade Character: Natural mineral glazes and hand weaving create subtle differences in color transparency and thread tension. These variations make each pair truly one of a kind.

Craft Artist & Origin

Wei Ziwen

A ceramic artist who explores the fusion of seemingly contrasting materials, combining fragile porcelain with flexible metal weaving to create works that are both poetic and precise.

Every FolkMake piece comes from real artisans within our founding craft team. It is not sourced from an anonymous factory catalog, nor is it dropshipped through a third party.

FolkMake’s online operations team handles product presentation, global selling, logistics, and customer care, so our artisans can stay focused on the work itself. This online team also includes young makers and creatives from different fields, working together to help real handmade pieces reach people around the world.

After essential brand operating costs are deducted, the remaining profit from each purchase goes directly back to the artisan behind the work.

FolkMake exists to help real handmade work reach the global stage with dignity and transparency. Your purchase supports real hands, real materials, and real craft — not a faceless corporate supply chain.

    FAQ

They feel much closer to art jewelry than novelty earrings. The fish form is only the starting point - what makes them special is the combination of kiln-fired ceramic, hand weaving, and freshwater pearls, which gives the pair a more thoughtful and sculptural presence in real life.

They can still work well with simple outfits. The pair is designed to catch light and add texture, so it can upgrade a plain look without needing a dramatic outfit around it.

They are wearable, but they do need gentle handling. The ceramic parts are fragile by nature, and the care notes specifically recommend storing each piece separately and avoiding collision, so this is best for someone who wears jewelry with care rather than tossing it around casually.

It is a strong gift if the person likes meaningful, design-led jewelry. It already comes with a clear emotional direction - reflective, gentle, and sea-connected - while still being wearable enough to avoid feeling like a difficult art object.

Choose Black & Silver if you want the strongest contrast and a more graphic look. Choose Grey & Silver if you want something quieter and more understated. Choose 3-Colors if you want the most layered, visibly crafted look. All three keep the same core structure, so the choice is mainly about visual mood.

No - and that is part of the point. The piece combines natural mineral glaze effects, hand weaving, and freshwater pearls, so slight differences in color transparency, thread tension, and overall detail are expected, making each pair genuinely one of a kind.

    1. Store each ceramic piece separately to avoid collision.
    2. Earring hooks, studs, and backs are made of 925 silver; avoid prolonged contact with water or chemicals.
    3. Ceramic is fragile, handle gently during wear and storage.

Crafted by hand. Shaped by your choices.

Every piece at FolkMake is made by hand by our artisans, with close attention to material, finish, and form.

When you choose a detail, finish, or visual direction, it becomes part of the making itself — so the final piece feels more personal, more intentional, and more truly yours.

We care about real craftsmanship, distinct character, and lasting worth — never anonymous mass production. Nothing leaves FolkMake until it feels right in hand and meets our standards.

    The FolkMake Way

Each piece at FolkMake is chosen with a clear intention in mind — whether you are drawn to calm and protection, luck and new beginnings, love and connection, strength and confidence, abundance and gratitude, or healing and comfort. That makes it easier to choose not just what looks right, but what feels right to keep or give.

We care about hand-built form, careful finishing, and the kind of detail that only comes from time and attention. Every piece is judged for precision, balance, and how it feels in real life — so the craftsmanship is something you can actually see and feel.

Every FolkMake piece is finished one by one, so slight variations in color, texture, or finish are part of what makes it real. The overall design stays true, but each one carries its own small differences — a quiet sign it was made by hand, not pulled from factory stock.
