Description

Small-batch handmade hammered copper mug crafted in China using the traditional copper hammering craft, featuring an octopus-shaped handle and a tactile, warm-in-hand finish.

Behind the Product

CopperMenagerie Octopus Mug turns a daily drink into a small encounter with an animal form. The octopus handle wraps the grip with curved arms, adding a gentle sense of movement and companionship. Across the cup, the hammered surface keeps the record of each strike - not a printed texture, but the real rhythm of shaping metal by hand.

For Healing & Comfort, this mug is designed as a steady, repeatable ritual. The weight of copper, the fine hammered marks, and the familiar motion of holding and sipping help bring attention back to the present. It is a practical object that also feels like a quiet pause - something you reach for when you want warmth, softness, and a little comfort on the table.

Materials & Size

Cup body: pure copper (red copper).
Handle: brass.
Capacity options: 150 ml (5.1 fl oz) or 200 ml (6.8 fl oz).

Craft Process & Handmade Character

Craft Process: Made with China's Intangible Cultural Heritage traditional copperware hammering craft (cold-forged copper hammering). The copper sheet is selected and cut to shape, then repeatedly annealed (heated until red hot and cooled) to restore softness. The form is built through thousands of controlled strikes, using different hammers and an anvil to raise and refine the vessel, leaving dense, natural hammer marks. The surface is then finished through steps such as polishing, cleaning off oxidation, and detail work where needed.

Handmade Character: Each mug is hand raised and finished, so hammer marks, contours, and the handle details will vary slightly from piece to piece. These small differences are part of the craft and make every cup feel uniquely alive in the hand.

    Shipping

Crafting time: most pieces are made to order and need about 2–5 business days. The current estimate for this design is shown on the product page.

Standard international shipping: free, usually 7–15 days after dispatch.

Express options: paid express shipping is available at checkout to speed up the international transit time. Crafting time itself cannot be rushed, so we can keep the quality and careful checks.

You can follow your parcel until it arrives.

    Returns & After-sales

If your standard (non-custom) piece arrives damaged or very different from the description/photos, we will help you with a replacement or full refund and cover all shipping costs.

If you simply change your mind or feel it is not right for you (for non-custom pieces), you can return the item within 14 days from the delivery date. In this case, return shipping is paid by you, and we will refund the product price after we confirm it is undamaged.

For custom-made pieces (for example, sizes or details made only for you), we cannot accept returns unless there is a clear quality issue.

To protect your rights, we strongly recommend recording a short unboxing video when you open the parcel, so we can help you quickly if anything goes wrong in transit.

    1. Do not use for strongly acidic drinks such as carbonated beverages or lemon water - this is an uncoated copper mug with no chemical plating.
    2. The natural copper color comes from high-heat oxidation, and the inside may continue to oxidize over time.
    3. After coffee or other drinks, rinse and wash promptly, then dry right away to prevent cup marks and keep the surface clean.
    4. Store in a dry, well-ventilated place - copper and brass do best when kept dry and "seasoned" with regular care.

    What Makes FolkMake Different

    Real Handmade in China:
Every piece is made in China by independent artisans and small studios — not factory-mass-produced. Built for everyday life, and chosen for lasting beauty.

    Intention-Led Collections:
Shop by intention — calm & protection, luck & new beginnings, love & connection, strength & confidence, abundance & gratitude, or healing & comfort — so it’s easier to find what you want to keep or gift.

    Clear Origin & Materials:
Each product page tells you where it’s made, what it’s made of, and what to expect — in plain, specific language.

    Respectful Maker Partnerships:
We protect the maker’s original voice and craft. Fair pricing, honest descriptions, and no cheap imitations — so the piece arrives in its most authentic form.

    Why We Started FolkMake

We are a young Chinese couple, Cecilia Chen and Oliver Sun. FolkMake exists to bring real handmade work in China to a wider world — pieces that feel honest, well made, and worth living with for a long time.

Our original intention was simple: to create a clear bridge, through us, for more people to understand these niche yet masterful crafts — what they are, how they’re made, and who stands behind them. For every piece, we explain materials and origin in plain, specific language, and we protect the maker’s original intention — so what you receive is not just an object, but the craft and meaning it was created to carry. We also organize our collections by intention, so it’s easier to find a piece that fits what you want to keep or gift — calm and protection, luck and new beginnings, love and connection, strength and confidence, abundance and gratitude, or healing and comfort.

    The FolkMake Way

Each piece carries a clear intention — calm and protection, luck and new beginnings, love and connection, strength and confidence, abundance and gratitude, or healing and comfort — so you can choose the meaning you want to keep or gift.

We lean into craft that rewards a closer look — hand-built forms, careful finishing, and details made by time, not shortcuts. Every piece is judged by precision, balance, and how it feels in real use, so the craftsmanship is something you can actually notice.

Everything on FolkMake is handmade in China — small-batch, never mass-produced. That means each piece may carry subtle natural variations, a quiet proof it was made by real hands.
