Description
Description
The SilkBloom Plum Blossom Hair Barrette is a handcrafted ronghua side hair barrette featuring layered violet blossoms, soft green leaves, and a seawater pearl at the heart of the main flower, designed to rest elegantly above the temple as a subtle yet striking focal point.
Behind the Product
Inspired by the quiet strength and early bloom of the plum blossom, this piece translates traditional Chinese ronghua silk flower craft into a refined, wearable ornament. Set along the side of the head, it frames the face with a calm, ceremonial grace, suitable for meaningful occasions yet gentle enough to pair with everyday understated elegance.
Materials
Mulberry silk, copper wire, seawater pearls.
Craft Process
The creation of this ronghua piece begins with silk boiling and dyeing. Raw mulberry silk is softened in a traditional solution and hand-dyed into the signature violet and soft green tones that define this plum blossom palette. Once dried, the silk is carefully combed and aligned to ensure smooth, even fibers.
In the thread rolling stage, two fine copper wires are folded into the silk bundle and rolled by hand on a textured board. This tightly merges silk and metal into smooth, resilient cords that form the structural base for petals and leaves. Each cord must be uniform in thickness and tension to support precise shaping.
Next, the cords are trimmed and shaped. They are cut into measured lengths and tapered for petal tips and leaf ends. Working over a controlled flame, the craft artist gently heat-shapes each strand, using tweezers to bend, curl, and press the silk cords into natural petal curves and leaf contours. The copper core holds these subtle arcs in place once cooled.
At the assembling stage, a luminous seawater pearl is selected as the plum blossom center. Around this pearl, the finished petals, leaves, and buds are layered and wrapped one by one, building a balanced yet organic blossom branch. The completed floral composition is finally secured onto a side-sitting barrette base, calibrated to follow the hairline and sit comfortably and stably above the temple.

Handmade Character
Each SilkBloom Plum Blossom Hair Barrette is made through multiple fully hand-executed steps, so no two pieces are exactly alike. Variations in petal curvature, density of the silk cords, and the angle of the seawater pearl center reflect the hand of the craft artist. These subtle differences are intentional, marking every barrette as a small-batch original rather than a factory-made accessory.
Product Care
Product Care
1. Store separately to avoid deformation or tangling.
2. Keep away from moisture and direct sunlight to preserve color and texture.
3. Handle gently; avoid pressing or crushing the petals.
